I have always avoided purchasing a full matte foundation as I prefer a more natural-looking foundation for daily use. But this time I decided to give a chance to one of my favorite drugstore brands NYX. Let’s take a look at how well does NYX Stay Matte Not Flat foundation work.

Packaging
I am always impressed by the packaging of NYX products and this one also is surely no different. It comes in a tube which looks very sleek. It is very easy to get the desired amount of product to come out of this tube. The size of the tube makes it very travel-friendly, it surely can squeeze itself in your compact makeup bag.
Scent
It has a pleasant faint smell, nothing off-putting.
Texture
It is not very thick like most liquid foundations are. It resembles more like the texture of a BB cream.
How to apply NYX Stay Matte Not Flat Foundation
Take out a small amount of the NYX Stay Matte liquid foundation from the tube and start applying it to your face with soft fingers. For an even-looking base apply it as an outwards motion and don’t apply it harshly it can irritate your skin.
Final Result
This foundation will work so well for some people but can be very disappointing for others. This will work well for people who like a light everyday foundation that only needs to last for a few hours. Some other foundations have set the bar so high for full coverage that this just doesn’t cut it anymore. But it does provide a nice coverage which can last you a good 5 to 6 hours.
Unlike most matte foundations this will look very natural and also a bit dewy which is the exact opposite of what is advertised. It’s not a bad thing necessarily just don’t use it for an ultimate matte look. I think to be precise you can use it more correctly like a BB cream which can be used to achieve a more natural, glowing, and fresh look.
Pro tip: Always try a patch test on your neck instead of your face or wrist to find the correct shade of your foundation.
Verdict
Here I would sum up the whole experience quickly:
PROS: Lightweight, smooth finish, and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.
CONS: Doesn’t last 24 hours and definitely isn’t completely matte.
