Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

I was looking to buy some new foundation when Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse caught my eye. I was tired of trying all the popular ones so I decided to go with this. When I bought this I thought it might be one of those underrated foundations which are extremely good but don’t get much credit. Let’s see if my prediction about it was right or wrong?

Product Description

Rimmel markets it as an oil-free formula-based mousse that is feather-light and won’t feel heavy on the skin. It delivers a completely matte look for the whole day and doesn’t let the skin feel greasy. This foundation also helps in minimizing the appearance of the pores.

My Experience

Packaging: The packaging of this foundation is quite simple and practical. It comes in an easy-to-use tube with a tight cap. This gives the user enough control to pump out the required amount for use. Due to its packaging, it’s easy to carry around while traveling as there is no fear of the product spilling.

Shade: Compared to some other foundations available this one won’t hold a candle, especially for people with yellow undertones. More than the lighter shades the darker shades of this foundation blend in more properly. The ivory and beige shades would be a hit and miss for some especially since Maybelline has perfected their Fit Me formula in these shades.

Texture: It has a thick creamy texture as a mousse foundation would. If you have regular or oily skin then it will work well for you but not so much for the dry skin.

Scent: It is completely fragrance-free, so that’s a plus.

How to apply: I used my fingers to apply this foundation and it worked perfectly well. If you don’t want to use fingers then I’d recommend using a brush instead of a sponge for better results.

Performance: The foundation provides medium coverage. It would work well for a daytime light makeup look but won’t hold up well for full glamourous looks. However, it is great at blurring pores and would look nice for an everyday makeup look. After I applied it, it stayed on well for only around 5 hours. It also sticks to dry-patch and highlights it.

Pros:

  • A vast range of shades
  • Travel-friendly
  • Smooth Texture
  • No fragrance
  • Complete Matte Finish
  • Pore Blurring

Cons

  • Not suitable for dry skin
  • Doesn’t provide full coverage
  • Can’t stay for more than 5 to 6 hours

Final Verdict

There are no two ways about it that the market is filled with better foundations than Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. But if you have just started using makeup and need practice to perfectly using a foundation then I would recommend using this one. Before buying a high-end foundation it’s best to be an expert with it. This one’s extremely affordable with a good formula that would give you a natural-looking finish. But if you regularly use makeup and want the absolute best foundation then this one is certainly not for you.
