Scrubs are probably one of the most debatable skincare products. There is a section of people who absolutely loves it while other deem it quite unnecessary. For me personally, I do like to have one but I don’t use it frequently. I have normal to dry skin which is why scrubs are probably my least used skincare product. In my research for finding scrubs, I came to know that there are two main types of scrubs, one with a natural exfoliator and one with a chemical exfoliator.
I hadn’t used a scrub with natural exfoliator before so I started searching for brands. One such brand that caught my eye was “Simple”. The name definitely intrigued me and I did a deep dive into the brand. Browsing through the products Simple Kind to Skin Smoothing Facial Scrub caught my eye and I purchased it. I have been using this facial scrub for two months and here is my review of it.
What Is Simple?
You might not be that familiar with Simple outside of Europe since it is a UK brand. The brand especially focuses on sensitive skin and creates a product for it using gentle and natural ingredients. Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub claims to have natural key ingredients like Rice Granules, Provitamin B5, and Vitamin E for removing dead cells and cleaning the skin. The main purpose of this scrub is that it gently exfoliates the skin and improves the overall texture of the skin.

Performance Review of Simple Kind to Skin Smoothing Facial Scrub
Application: Squeeze a small amount of product onto your palm and massage it in a circular motion on your slightly damp face. After about a minute or two rinse thoroughly with water. It is recommended on the tube that people with oily skin should use it twice a week and normal to dry once.
Scent: It is a plus that there is no added perfume scent. However, it does have a slight lime-like smell. It didn’t bother me much but it isn’t completely unscented.
Packaging: The facial scrub came in a 75ml squeeze tube of a pretty light apple-green color. I loved the packaging and design. It’s quite clean and elegant. Since the brand is all about natural and clean ingredients, the design does convey its message.
Texture: The thing that has always kept me from trying more scrubs is texture. I had ordered the Simple scrub online and had no idea how exactly will its texture be. When it arrived I quickly checked if it had big granules like various other exfoliators. I was glad to see that there wasn’t. There were in fact finely chopped rice granules that were made to feel gentle on the skin. It is a white-colored scrub that has a slightly thick cream-like consistency with small grains in it.
Overall Experience of Simple Kind to Skin Smoothing Facial Scrub
After First Use
When I first used the Simple scrub, I was just happy to see it not have any harsh effect on my skin due to exfoliation. I used it after cleansing and it did the job nicely. Like most of us, I focused more on my T-zone while exfoliating and tried to clean it as much as possible.
After Two Months
I have been using it for two months with the recommended routine of once a week. The first thing that I would like to tell now is that you really have to rinse your face thoroughly to get off all the granules. Since they are really small in size, the granules tend to stick harder to the skin. There is a chance that after washing your face if you wipe it, you will find very few particles. This is why I would recommend toning after using it instead of directly putting on a moisturizer.
Another thing that I have noticed is that it has a limited capacity as an exfoliator. It is only good for cleaning the upper layer of your skin and won’t go any deeper. If you are someone who would prefer a high-functioning exfoliator that deeply cleanses the skin, sadly this isn’t it. But if you like a gentle scrub to use once or twice a week that won’t aggravate your skin then this is a good recommendation.
Let’s take a look at quick pros and cons which will help you decide if this scrub is for you or not:
Pros
- Affordable
- Easily available
- Good everyday scrub for sensitive skin
Cons
- Limited Performance
- Not entirely natural (mineral oil is mentioned in ingredients)
Gentle on the skin were the exact words that me try this exfoliator out and it was a good experience. I probably won’t be purchasing it again but might try something else from Simple.
